A movement for long-lasting change
On September 4, 2018, over 3000 people from all over Jewish Chicago gathered for an event that was truly historic. It was a city-wide asifah dedicated to creating community-wide awareness of the many ways technology impacts our lives – our relationships, our children, our communication, and our connections to others and Hashem.
What followed was extraordinary. We created a culture shift, swapping relationships with technology for one with a focus on what really matters, our relationships with others, ourselves and Hashem. Shuls went phone-free. Individuals established personal technology boundaries. And hundreds promised greater attention to their spouses and children.
Project Focus continues to raise awareness and promote healthy technology use. Since the inaugural asifa in 2018, other cities have followed suit, with similar asifas and community responses to technology taking place in Cleveland, LA and beyond.
